Jo completed her BA at Winchester School of Art and later obtained an MA in Applied Fine Art from Kingston University.
Her inspiration stems from life itself, with a preference for capturing both wildlife and people. Lately, her focus has shifted to urban environments, finding great fascination in observing and photographing individuals in their city routines. With the bustling atmosphere of living near a major metropolis, she is able to capture the daily lives of people through her paintings. Her style has evolved towards depicting lively and densely populated locations, which she hopes will engage viewers to examine the multitude of characters within. She draws influence from renowned artists such as Pissarro, Hopper, and Lowry. She dabbles in various mediums but has a particular fondness for acrylic due to its quick-drying nature and adaptability.
Jo has been both a regular exhibitor of her paintings and a recipient of numerous prestigious awards in recent years. Some notable achievements include being a finalist for BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year 2011, Surrey Artist of the Year 2011, and Artist and Illustrators Artist of the Year 2013 and 2014.
